Here are some images of Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls which I took at their headline Wembley Arena show last Friday. Also featured on the bill was Beans on Toast, dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip and the amazing Billy Bragg. It was an amazing night and for all involved something that we had been working very hard towards since the start of Frank’s career.

Editing down these images reminds me that I still have images of one of the shows from the last tour which I have still not put online in addition to some images which I took in the studio when Frank and the band were working on ‘England Keep My Bones’. I’ll get to work on those soon!

On 8 August 2011, Diamandis uploaded a new video to her YouTube page titled “Part 1: Fear and Loathing”. In an interview with Popjustice, Marina explained the whole concept of “Electra Heart” with the album to be under the same title and “Fear and Loathing” as an album track, and to be released on iTunes on 25 September. However this will not be an official single. The high concept video for it sees Marina slowly transforming into the character of Electra Heart, a guise Marina says “epitomises and embodies the lies, illusions and death of American ideologies involved in the corruption of self.” but will however not be an alter-ego as Marina says it is too “clichéd”. Asked to describe just what Electra Heart is and stands for, Marina told Popjustice: “Electra Heart is the antithesis of everything that I stand for. And the point of introducing her and building a whole concept around her is that she stands for the corrupt side of American ideology, and basically that’s the corruption of yourself. My worst fear – that’s anyone’s worst fear – is losing myself and becoming a vacuous person. And that happens a lot when you’re very ambitious.” The second song, “Radioactive” produced by Stargate premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 22 September 2011. It was released on iTunes on 30 October 2011. Further developing the Electra Heart concept “Part 2: Radioactive” the official music video for the single premiered. On her first video chat with fans, Marina revealed that Electra Heart would come out “the same month as the previous album,” which came out in February. However, Marina has since tweeted the ambiguous statement “Some news. Electra Heart is not being released in February…”, it was later revealed in February 2012 that the album would be released on 30 April 2012.

Here is a shot of Death Stars from their performance supporting Rammstien at the O2 Arena in London on the 24th February. I would of liked to have posted some shots of Rammstien but the contact the band and their management make you sign before you get to photograph the band ties the images down so much that you can’t use them for anything other their intended purpose, so I guess you will have to wait until they appear in print! Rammstein are a German Industrial Metal band from Berlin, formed in 1994. The band consists of members Till Lindemann (lead vocals), Richard Z. Kruspe (lead guitar and backing vocals), Paul H. Landers (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Oliver “Ollie” Riedel (bass guitar), Christoph “Doom” Schneider (drums and electronic percussion) and Christian “Flake” Lorenz (keyboards). They are widely accepted as part of the Neue Deutsche Härte scene and they are the genre’s most successful band, achieving worldwide fame.

Dog Is Dead are a five-piece indie pop band from West Bridgford, Nottingham. In March 2011 they appeared as themselves on British TV the teen drama Skins. The closing scene of the fifth series featured the band in a marquee playing “Glockenspiel Song”, with most of the series’ characters singing along: “We are a mess. We are failures and we love it”. The episode, first broadcast on channel E4 in March 2011, also included “Young” as background music during the wedding scene. Shortly after they were signed by Atlantic Records who released a collection of their previously available songs on the “Your Childhood” EP. This was followed by two new singles: “River Jordan” and “Hands Down”. During 2011 Daniel Harvey replaced Lawrence Libor on drums. They toured extensively, both as a headline act and as support for Bombay Bicycle Club and Viva Brother. They performed at several UK festivals (Bestival, Latitude Festival, Leeds Festival, Reading Festival, Isle of Wight Festival), in Paris as part of Festival des Inrockuptibles and in Amsterdam.

On Monday night I was at Gym Class Heroes at KOKO in Camden for my first music photography outing of 2012. The band were very animated which made them good fun to shoot. For more images please click the shots above and below to launch a Flash slideshow.

The group formed when Travie McCoy met drummer Matt McGinley in high school and decided to form a band. After the addition of guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and bassist Eric Roberts, the group was signed to Fueled by Ramen and Decaydance Records (Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz’s independent record label), on which they released their debut album, The Papercut Chronicles. In 2006, the group released the gold-selling album As Cruel as School Children.

On Monday night I went to see the final date of The Revival Tour at The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth. I caught the guys on an earlier part of tour at an instore at the Lee Jeans store on Carnaby Street, London but it was so good I had to catch the show again. This run of the tour featured Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), Dave Hause (The Loved Ones), Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio) & Chuck Regan (Hot Water Music). We grabbed some food with the guys and crew before the show and they are all very humble, great people.
